This majestic, vintage, hand-knotted, Turkish oriental rug will add warmth, gentle color, and abundant charm to any large indoor space.

Weavers in the Anatolian Peninsula of Turkey, most likely in the town of Borlu, diligently hand-knotted the carpet, c. 1950's

The rug features calming, neutral, vegetable dyed colors. The main field color is ivory/beige, and the border is a light sage green. The weavers artfully, whimsically arranged various geometric and botanical motifs all over the rug, in gentle shades of salmon, brown, gray, sage, beige, cerulean blue, etc.

The design also strongly reflects the famous carpets from nearby Oushak, Turkey, woven around the same time and earlier.

In terms of condition, I washed the rug by hand in April, 2024, and carefully stored it since then. The design and colors show beautifully. The rug has no holes, rips or stains.

However, parts of the rug show substantial wear. Numerous repair seems are visible, including one in the center of the main field. One very small hand-stitched patch is also visible. Please see the photos for details. The combined age, colors and condition offer a great bohemian look.
