Antique Persian Heriz Runner Rug, 3x11 - "The Caravan Way"
Couldn't load pickup availability
A striking expression of Persian village weaving, The Caravan Way unfolds like a journey across time—its rhythmic procession of motifs guiding the eye from one end of the runner to the other. The saturated rust-red field glows with warmth, while accents of deep indigo, pink, sky blue, beige, and sage green create a dynamic interplay of color that feels both earthy and luminous.
This piece draws from the bold geometric language of Heriz weaving traditions, known for their confident drawing and architectural presence. Stylized boteh forms and botanical elements repeat in a steady cadence, evoking movement—like travelers following a well-worn path through a richly patterned landscape. The border, with its angular vine and rosette motifs, frames the field with a sense of direction and continuity, reinforcing the feeling of passage and flow.
The wool has softened beautifully over time, developing a supple handle and a gently worn patina that speaks to decades of use. Subtle abrash variations ripple across the surface, giving the rug depth and a quiet sense of life—hallmarks of hand-dyed wool and traditional craftsmanship.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & CHARACTER
Heriz rugs are celebrated for their durability and bold, graphic clarity—woven to withstand generations of daily life. This runner carries that legacy, with a structure that remains strong and a design that feels both grounded and expressive. The slightly irregular drawing and nuanced color shifts are not imperfections, but signatures of the human hand—evidence of a weaver working intuitively, knot by knot.
There’s a quiet confidence in this piece. Nothing overly delicate, nothing overly refined—just a powerful, enduring design that continues to resonate.
