Signed Antique 1911 Persian Runner, 3'9"x8'7"
A genuine, early 19th century antique, hand knotted, Persian tribal runner rug adds color, warmth and worldly charm to complement any decor style.
The runner depicts numerous colorful, tribal geometric motifs, as well as human figures, all rendered in beautiful, old vegetable dye colors.
One end of the rug includes the Arabic numerals 1329, corresponding to the year 1911 in the western, Gregorian calendar.
Weavers in northwest Iran, near the town of Serab, diligently hand knotted this beautiful antique piece in the early 19th century, most likely during the year shown on the rug.
The rug is in fair-to-good antique condition. The design and colors show beautifully, although the pile is worn in many areas. A professional tailor made one small hand stitching repair, shown in the photos.
